The year 2012 was a great year for me. I graduated from college, got into medical school on a scholarship, went to Europe, started medical school, and bought plane tickets to go to Las Vegas this coming summer. However, it was not without its faults. I should have worked out more and eaten better. I could've done better in my first semester of medical school. I should have been more proactive with this blog and not let studying get in the way of updating The Hero Complex. Well I am just going to say that 2013 is going to be bigger and better! I want to constantly improve my life, and upgrade this website. I have some exciting things in mind for the blog and I will be letting you all in on that shortly. I have three, specific 2013 resolutions in mind. Writing them down/sharing makes the goals much more likely to happen. Without further ado, here they are:
1. Do Better in Medical School - My first semester in medical school I did pretty well. My school is on an honors, pass, fail system and I achieved the honors designation in half of my courses. I finished the semester at roughly 3 points above "average." However, this does not sit well with me. I like to be the best, and I work too hard to be just above average. I need to study smarter and maybe put in a few more hours (especially in the anatomy lab). My goal is to "honor" at least 75% of my classes in the Spring semester. It is very doable.
2. Work Out Twice a Week - It is ironic that the process of becoming a doctor can be largely unhealthy. It is difficult to find time and motivation to work out or cook a healthy meal. One of my 2013 resolutions is to make time for the gym. I want to either run, lift weights, or do yoga at least twice a week. I am hoping to lose 5 pounds in fat, while building lots of lean muscle mass.
3. Write a Blog Post a Week - Last, but not least, I want to provide all of my readers with a lot more content. I really love this blog, it just isn't always my top priority. At the end of a long day of studying, writing a blog post is not always super attractive. However, this will change in 2013. I am going to write at least 52 blog posts this year (51 more after this one). This should improve my writing skills, expand my readership, and provide my loyal readers with tons of new and useful information.
Let me know what your 2013 resolutions are in the comments.
